Potentials and Motivations
A player’s potential represents his maximum rating that he can reach.
Here is a table showing the estimated rating based on potential

Motivation is the color under the player’s potential. It represents the chance that he reaches his potential
Motivation | Color | Chance |
---|---|---|
Exact | Gray | The player won’t grow anymore |
Absolute | Blue | 95% |
High | Green | 90% |
Medium | Yellow | 65% |
Low | Red | 25% |
Poor | Dark Red | 10% |
Players over 26 years old automatically get assigned the exact motivation.
Potential can also change throughout the years. Some players are overrated or underrated when they are drafted, and as they age, their true potential is revealed. Ice time, coaching staff and performance do not affect potential.
The final overall value of a player can vary based on three factors. Ice time, coaching staff development rating and performance.
- Playing a major player (> 80 overall) in the Minor League or a minor player in the Major League for an extended period of time will lower his overall.
- Having a coaching staff with a bad development rating will lower the overall of young players
