History Mode in Hockey Legacy Manager

Start an HLM History Mode Career

Hockey Legacy Manager History Mode lets you begin in a supported past season, choose a team from that year, and play forward as the league changes. It requires HLM PRO and a roster containing History Mode data. Before starting, choose whether HLM follows its prepared league changes and original draft history.

HLM supports these History Mode starting years:

The list shown in the game comes from your installed roster. If History mode is missing or HLM says it is unavailable, open Roster, select a roster that includes History Mode data, and try again.

How to start an HLM History Mode career

From the main menu, select History mode. If your layout groups career types together, select New Career, then History mode.
Select a starting year. Each option is labeled Start a career in [year].
Select the team you want to manage in that season, then confirm Start career to open the career settings.
Review the two History Mode settings below, adjust the rest of your career settings, and start the career.

History Mode settings

Both History Mode-specific controls appear during new-career setup. They cannot be added to an ordinary career later.

Setting	Where to find it	What it changes
Automate league changes	Game Mode → History mode	When on, HLM keeps the prepared expansion drafts and division changes. Turning it off removes those predetermined changes and lets you manage future league structure yourself.
Ignore draft history	Roster	When on, HLM generates prospect draft positions without using their original draft positions. Leave it off when you want original draft history to keep influencing expected selection order.

The starting year is selected before the settings screen, so it is part of History Mode setup but is not a toggle inside Settings.

Use the draft guide for the rest of the draft process. If you turn off automated league changes, use league customization to manage teams and league structure as the career advances.
