Rosters, Lineups, Chemistry, and Player Types
Building your team in Hockey Legacy Manager starts with setting your forward lines, defensive pairs, goalies, and special teams. The lineup screen also shows player types, ratings, health, and offensive chemistry. If a player will not be on your roster, Roster Moves lets you loan that player to another league when the game allows it.
Set your lineup
Section titled “Set your lineup”Open Lineup to set your forward lines, defensive pairs, starting and backup goalies, power play, and penalty kill. Depending on your device, the screen uses Offense, Defense, Goalies, and Units, or Five on five and Special units.
An injury, trade, call-up, or loan can leave a position empty. Return to Lineup after one of these changes and fill any empty position before the next game.
Check availability
Check whether a player is injured, scratched, or no longer on your roster.
Review fit
Compare player types, ratings, health, and offensive chemistry.
Decide when to use lineup tools
Section titled “Decide when to use lineup tools”The screen provides tools for common lineup tasks:
- Best Lines fills the lineup automatically with players on your roster. You can change any line afterward.
- Lock keeps chosen players in place when you use Best Lines. Select the players you do not want moved first.
- Roster Moves lets you loan eligible players to another league. The game shows which leagues are available for each player and warns you when a loan is not allowed.
- Auto Rotation lets the game choose which goalie starts. Turn it off when you want to choose the starter yourself.

Compare offensive chemistry and player types
Section titled “Compare offensive chemistry and player types”Offensive chemistry is shown for forward lines and defensive pairs. Use it with each player’s position, type, ratings, and health when choosing combinations. HLM does not have a separate defensive chemistry mechanic.

Know when the roster must change
Section titled “Know when the roster must change”A lineup issue cannot always be fixed by rearranging the same players. You may need to acquire a player, call one up, or make room by loaning a player to another league. Roster Moves shows the leagues available for the selected player. Some players cannot be loaned because of their health, contract, waiver status, or league rules.
Use waivers and roster moves for those decisions. When the need involves a signing, contract, or trade, continue to the broader transactions guides.
A repeatable team-building check
Section titled “A repeatable team-building check”- Check the roster for injuries and recent player moves.
- Fill every forward line, defensive pair, goalie position, and special-team position.
- Compare player types, ratings, and offensive chemistry.
- Resolve lineup warnings before advancing.
- Use Roster Moves to loan players, or use the transaction guides when the roster still needs a player.
