Save Recovery and Lost Progress

If an HLM career will not load or recent progress is missing, open Load Career, select the career, and try its newest Autosave. HLM can retain one to four rotating autosave slots. If the career still loads normally, duplicate or export it before trying any corrective action.

  1. Open Load Career and select the affected career.

  2. Choose Autosave. If several slots exist, select Autosave 1, Autosave 2, and so on, beginning with the newest usable entry.

  3. Confirm the in-game date after the career opens. An older autosave restores the progress stored in that slot, not the date shown by the failed manual save.

  4. Return to Load CareerOptionsDuplicate to preserve the recovered version before continuing.

The Load button is omitted when no manual save is present. The Autosave button is omitted when the career has no autosave slots to load.

Configure autosaves before a problem occurs

Section titled “Configure autosaves before a problem occurs”

In Settings, Autosave supports Disabled, Weekly, Every Month, and every two, three, or four months. Autosave Slots supports one, two, three, or four rotating slots.

More slots provide more restore points. A shorter frequency reduces the amount of progress between them.

Open a career’s Options menu:

  • Duplicate creates another career entry on the same device.
  • Export creates a career file you can store elsewhere. Export requires HLM PRO.
  • Import on the Load Career screen adds a supported exported file. Import requires HLM PRO.
Visible message Meaning and action
Invalid Format The selected file could not be read as a supported career file. Select the original exported file instead of a renamed or extracted file.
Not Enough Storage Free device storage, then retry the same import.
Import Failed HLM could not copy or process the selected file. Select it again from local storage; if it still fails, use another exported copy.

Never test recovery with Delete. The confirmation explicitly states that deletion is permanent.
