HLM27 adds 11 new historical start dates, allowing you to begin your franchise in a much wider range of eras:
1930 · 1950 · 1965 · 1975 · 1985 · 1990 · 1995 · 2003 · 2014 · 2016 · 2025
Each starting point gives you a different league landscape, with different teams, players, rules to work with.
Historical Salary Caps
The salary cap now follows historical values throughout History Mode. As you progress through the years, the cap changes to reflect the financial environment of that era rather than using approximative values.
Historical Contract Rules
Contract rules also adapt to the era you’re playing in. The maximum contract length is:
- 18 years before 2013
- 8 years from 2013 through 2025
- 7 years from 2026 onward
This allows contracts and roster building to better reflect the rules that were actually in place at different points in history.
Custom Minor Leagues in History Mode
History Mode now also supports custom minor leagues.
Previously, you could create your own minor leagues, but they could only be used in regular game modes. With HLM27, custom minor leagues can now be included in History Mode, allowing you to build a more complete league structure and follow those leagues as your game progresses through history.
With 11 new starting dates, historical salary caps and contract rules, and support for custom minor leagues, History Mode gives you more flexibility to experience hockey across different eras.
